Sponsoring the International Multibody summerschool
Spaceglass in one of the sponsors of the 6th International Multibody summer school. Fifty attendees from all over the world will partecipate to this event, that will take place in Parma from 3rd to 7th June 2024.
Methods of multibody system dynamics represent a widespread and versatile approach to the simulation of engineering problems that involve the dynamics of complex mechanisms. Applications of these methods can be found in many fields, for instance in aerospace, automotive, biomechanics, robotics and automation.

Seminar by Prof. Dan Negrut, USA
On 7th May 2024, Prof. Dan Negrut from the Univesity of Wisconsin Madison has been invited by Prof. Tasora to give a seminar at the University of Parma.
How the Chrono simulation engine is changing the way NASA tests rovers for extraplanetary missions
Dan Negrut, University of Wisconsin, Madison.
The talk presented how robotics simulation is done in Chrono, and how the terramechanics simulations enabled by a new generation of models allow NASA engineers to move beyond dated approaches for designing new rovers.

At the end of the seminar, Prof. Gianni Royer, in videoconference from Houson, Texas, also presented the activities of Spaceglass in the aerospace field and updated us about his recent meetings with NASA engineers.

Our research has been funded

On February 16th 2024,  Prof. Alessandro Tasora  won a competitive call funded by the University of Parma. The project, that will last two years, is titled "Advanced FE modelling of curved layered structures reinforced with carbon nanotube fibers for aerospace applications under extreme environmental conditions". (see Decr. Rett. n.438/2024 of the University of Parma).  Other members of Spaceglass that will collaborate in the project are Prof. Laura Galuppi (as vice-PI) and Prof. Gianni Royer Carfagni.

Event on Space Exploration –  Quo vadimus?

On December 15th 2023,  the Consulate General of Italy in Houston and the Space Institute of Rice University will present the Quo Vadimus event on space exploration.

During the morning session, Prof Gianni Royer Carfagni, University of Parma, CEO of Spaceglass SRL, will present the talk "High performance transparent composite windows for space applications"

The event is organized in collaboration with: The Rice Space Institute of Rice University, Houston; Thales Alenia Space, Italy; Spacewear, Italy; Italian Trade Agency, Houston; Italy-America Chamber of Commerce of Texas, Houston; Associations of Italian Researchers in the Consulate area: ISSNAF-WSC and TSIC; Italian Cultural Institute, Los Angeles; Italian Cultural & Community Center, Houston; COMITES (Committee of Italians Abroad).

Glass staircases at Tiffany

We signed a contract with Tiffany & Co for consulting about structural glass structures in one of their shops, in Milano, Italy, at the heart of the so called "fashion district" of Milano in V.Montenapoleone.  The project will involve the design, building and testing of a glass staircase with high aesthetic qualities, and will be developed in years 2023-2024.

Tiffany & Co. is a renowned American luxury jewelry and specialty design house headquartered on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. In 2018 operated 93 stores in the US and 321 stores worldwide.
